Beginner Moves

Move 1 = Yoyo       Move 2 = Side to Side       Move 3 = Wurlitzer

Intermediate Moves

Move 1 = Basket Accordion = Beats 1, 2, 3 & 4 as per a normal Basket. Men let go with your left hand as you nudge your lady out with your shoulder – ladies step forwards turning to your right. As the ladies come round to face, men transfer the lady’s left hand from your right hand to your left at waist level on the half beat, before raising your left hand to turn your lady clockwise. When the ladies come round to face keep your left hand raised whilst you catch right to right at waist level. Men raise both hands to return your lady. Step back to face with a crossed handhold.

Move 2 = Secret Nelson Slide = Step back right to right, men signalling by offering your left hand in front of you by your right hip. Both step in so your partner is on your right hand side, men take your right hand up near your left shoulder, ladies take hold of the man’s offered hand down by his hip. Men take a small step behind your lady with your right foot as you extend your right hand out to the right, ladies, you turn half a turn to your right. Men place your weight on your right foot and pivot around to your right to face your lady as you bring your right hand up into an ‘L’ shape. Men keep your left hand at waist level as you push and raise your right hand to turn the lady in a clockwise direction. When the ladies come round to face – men take your right hand over your head as you would in a Comb and lower the lady’s hand behind your neck – the lady’s left arm should be behind her back. Men let go with your right hand, push away with your left hand and step back sliding and catching man’s left to lady’s right.

Move 3 = Mirrored Catapult First Move = Step back man’s left to lady’s right. Step in as the man pulls down and then raises his left hand out to the left, to make the ladies turn to their right underneath. Men take another step forward and keep facing away from your lady as you transfer the lady’s hand from your left to your right behind your back. Men step back to the left as you pull with your right hand at waist level to make your lady step forward into your right hand side. Men with your right hand draw a horizontal anti-clockwise circle with your right hand at waist level – letting go to spin your lady anti-clockwise in front of you. As the lady spins, men step around & in to the right of your lady, men pivoting ½ turn to your left & collecting your lady in a First Move position (man’s right hand on the lady’s left hip & catching man’s left hand to lady’s right hand by the man’s left shoulder) as the lady finishes her spin. This move now finishes just like a normal First move.

Move 4 = Neckbreak Pretzel = Step back man’s left to lady’s right – men signalling with your right arm in an ‘L’ shape at shoulder height. Both step in so that your partner is on your right hand side, men taking your left hand up near your left shoulder while you take your right hand over the lady’s left shoulder with your palm facing the floor so that you can see your fingertips as you look behind the lady’s head – your right hand/arm should not be in contact with the ladies at this point. Men stay on the spot as you take your left hand down towards the lady’s hip & across in front of her at waist level to make her twist out to the side like a First Move Lady’s step back on your right) – and as the lady now faces the same way, men with your right hand tap your lady on her right shoulder – ladies take hold with your left hand. Men push with your right arm to twist your lady forwards slightly to her left (a shallow twist). Men keep hold with both hands as you step forwards pivoting ½ turn clockwise – pushing with your left hand and pulling with your right hand to make your lady step forwards like you pivoting clockwise – you should end up both facing the same way, with the lady to the man’s left. Men side step behind your lady as you raise your right hand to turn your lady anti-clockwise. As the lady comes round to face, men lower & keep hold with your right hand, as you raise your left hand & men pivot ¾ turn anticlockwise underneath your left hand. Men once you have finished turning to your left, your lady should be to your left, as you sweep your left hand down in between you, then out in front of your lady, before raising your left hand over your lady’s head. Like a Pretzel now, both side step to your left behind each other, passing back to back, men lowering your left hand to waist level as you raise your right hand over the lady’s head. Men look at your partner as you drop your right elbow in between your faces and take your right hand over your head to lead the lady behind you as the man side steps to the right. Men lower and let go with your right hand as you raise your left hand to unwrap the ladies in an anti-clockwise direction. Step back.

Men keep hold with both your hands by your lady’s hips, as you scoot round behind your lady and step in beside her – so the lady is now to the man’s right.
