Intermediate Moves

Move 1 = First Move Backslide = Beats 1 & 2 as per a normal First Move. Men twist your lady out to the side, but step forwards on your left foot as you do so, so that you end up at a right angle to your lady. Men raise your left hand to turn your lady anti-clockwise on the spot. As the ladies come round to face – men keep your left hand raised and step underneath it turning to your left like you would in a Step Across. Men finish turning to your left as you pull down with your left hand to face. Men raise your left hand out to the right in front of you to return your lady anti-clockwise back onto the side she started from. Step back to face.

Move 2 = Armjive Nelson Flick = Beats 1, 2, 3 & 4 as per a normal Armjive. Men turn the ladies clockwise like you would normally. As the ladies come round to face, men turn half a turn to your right and lower your left hand to the right behind your back. Both take a small step to the left as men take your left hand out to the left behind you. Men throw your left hand away to the right behind you – letting go to spin the ladies in a clockwise direction, as you turn either way to face. Catch right to right. Return. Step back.

Move 3 = Hatchback Neckbreak = Step back right to right, men signalling by offering his left hand behind his back. Both step in so that your partner is on your right hand side, men take your hand across your chest and up near your left shoulder, ladies take hold of the man’s offered hand behind his back. Men take a step behind your lady as you extend your right hand out to the right at shoulder level – ladies turn to your right so you are looking over the man’s shoulder. Men raise your right hand vertically (careful with your elbow) before taking it back to the right over & behind the lady’s head & onto her right shoulder. Men pull your right hand round gently to twist the ladies slightly to her left into your body. Men let go with your left hand behind your back as you gently pull back and raise your right hand to unwrap the ladies 1 and a 1/2 turns in a clockwise direction. As the ladies come round to face, men lower your right hand to waist level and turn half a turn to your left, offering your left hand out behind you like a Catapult. This move now finishes in the same way as a Catapult – men step back to the right bringing your lady into your left hand side. Men let go with your right hand as you step back spinning the ladies in a clockwise direction. Catch man’s left to lady’s right. Return. Step back.

Move 4 = Delayed Wurlitzer = Beats 1, 2 & 3 as per a normal Wurlitzer. Men keep hold with your right hand as you take it out to the right and then over the lady’s head to turn (not spin) her anti-clockwise in front of you. As the ladies come round to face, men keep hold and lower your right hand to waist level as you turn a quick 3/4 turn to your left (your right arm is now in a half nelson behind your back) and offer your left hand to your lady over the top of her left arm – ladies take hold with their right. Men turn to your right on the spot to face away from your lady as you take your left hand over your head. Men take a small step back to the left, as you lower and let go with your left hand whilst you pull & raise your right hand in front of your lady (careful with your elbow) & then over her head – to turn the ladies in a clockwise direction. When the ladies come round to face, men take your right hand out to the left at waist level. Intermediate Moves

Move 1 = Catapult Reverse Sway = Beats 1 and 2 as per a normal Catapult. Men, step straight forward, as per a normal Catapult, as you offer your left hand down past your right hip. Men step back to the left as you pull and raise your right hand up and out to the right to make your lady step in underneath & she takes hold of your offered left hand with her left. Men pivot ½ turn to your right on the spot, as you push with your left hand around your lady at waist level to make her pivot ½ turn to her right too & men lower your right hand down in front of yourself at waist level so you both find yourselves in the mirror image of a Sway & sway backwards. Men raise your right hand to send your lady out anti-clockwise in front of you. Men lower your right hand to waist level to face as you step back with a crossed handhold ready for the next move.

Move 2 = Repeating Pushspin

Move 3 = First Move Penguin = Beats 1, 2 and 3 as per a normal First Move. Men, lead your ladies forwards so that you rock forwards onto your left foot, ladies right foot, facing each other in a ballroom dance style of hold. You then both rock your weight from foot to foot another 3 times (men = right, left, right – ladies = left, right, left ) At that point you have both rocked your weight from foot to foot a total of 4 times. Those 4 steps should be done on just 2 beats and as you rock from foot to foot you should both rotate clockwise. This means that the men are travelling forwards pulling their partner forwards as you both rotate. When you have completed the 4 steps, men, twist the ladies out to the right and you should be in the same First Move position that you were in on beat 3. Finish like a normal First Move.

Move 4 = Sling Wrap Step Across = Step back man’s left to lady’s right. Men step forward to the left, turning a quarter turn to your right, as you lead the lady forwards by pulling with your left hand to the right at waist level – Ladies step straight forward. Men keep hold with your left hand as you flick it round behind your lady at waist level, to wrap her 1 complete turn clockwise into the mirror image of a Basket - the lady should be to the man‘s left – men offer your right hand, ladies take hold. Men side step to your left round behind your lady, as you raise your right hand over her head. Men lower & let go with your right hand, as you raise your left hand & step forwards underneath, turning to your left like a Step Across. Just like a Step Across men continue turning to their left to face. Return. Step back.

Beginner Moves

Move 1 = Hatchback       Move 2 = Basket       Move 3 = Shoulder Slide

Intermediate Moves

Move 1 = Pull Under = Step back with a double handhold. Men raise your right hand, as you throw and let go with your left hand past your right hip – ladies step forward underneath the man’s raised right arm turning to their left – men step behind your lady turning to your right as you swap sides. Step back to face catching with a double handhold again. Men raise your left hand, as you throw and let go with your right hand past your left hip – ladies step forward underneath the man’s raised left arm turning to their right – men step behind your lady turning to your left as you swap sides. Step back to face. Return. Step back.

Move 2 = Step Across Hip Swizzle = Beats 1 & 2 as per a normal Step Across. Men as you pull down with your left elbow to bring the ladies around to face – keep moving your left hand up and out to the left to turn the ladies in a clockwise direction. Just before the lady comes round to face, men place your right hand onto the lady’s nearest (right) hip & step back to face having swapped sides, men extending your left hand out to the left at shoulder level. Men, pull and let go with your right hand as you raise your left hand back in between you and over the lady’s head to turn her in an anti-clockwise direction as you both step back on to the side you each started from. As the ladies come round to face, men take your left hand across to the right at waist level. Men pull back and let go with your left hand at waist level – letting go to spin your lady clockwise. Catch right to right. Return. Step back.

Move 3 = Sway Flip Flop First = Beats 1, 2, 3 & 4 as per a normal Sway. Men nudge the ladies across to the left in front of you as you step to your right behind her. Men pull with your right hand at waist level to make your lady side step to her right back into a Sway position – on the halfbeat as the men step to the left into a Sway position, men place your left hand underneath the lady’s left forearm & flick the lady’s left arm up into the air. Men immediately let go with your right hand, but allow it to slide round the lady’s back, as you quickly step underneath the lady’s arm you’ve thrown in the air and quickly walk round in front of her and collect her in a First Move position by taking hold of her right hand with your left by your left shoulder and placing your right hand on the lady’s left hip. Just like a First Move now – twist the ladies out to the side. Back up to the shoulder. To the ladies clockwise. Face. Return. Step back.

Move 4 = Reversed Basket Wurlitzer = Step back with a double handhold. Men step forward to the left, turning a quarter turn to your right, as you lead the lady forwards by pulling with both hands together to the right at waist level – Ladies step straight forward. Men keep your left hand at waist level as you turn another quarter turn to your right & take your right hand back in between you & your lady, then over her head to wrap her 1 complete turn clockwise into the mirror image of a Basket – the lady should be to the man‘s left. Men keep hold with both your hands by your lady’s hips, as you scoot round behind your lady and step in beside her – so the lady is now to the man’s right. Men let go with your left hand, as you step forward turning to your right to face your lady, whilst pulling with your right hand at waist level to make your lady unwrap 1 ¼ turns clockwise, and prepare her for a Wurlitzer type spin. Men throw your right hand across to the right at waist level – letting go to spin your lady anti-clockwise. Catch man’s left to lady’s right.
