As you come round to face – catch left to left. Men raise your left hand to turn the lady clockwise. Face with left hand raised, and catch right to right at waist level. Return. Step back to face – letting go with your left hand, so you finish right to right.

Sway forwards in this position. Men let go with your left hand, but slide it round your lady’s waist, as you step to your right around to the opposite side of your lady, as you bring your right hand back in between both of you to turn the ladies half a turn to their right. Men take hold of your lady’s left hand with your left again (lady’s left arm still be behind her back) as men take your right hand over your lady’s head and lower it behind her neck like a Comb again. Beginner Moves

Move 1 = Basket       Move 2 = Manspin       Move 3 = Yoyo Pushspin

Intermediate Moves

Move 1 = Yoyo Lasso Pushspin = Beats 1, 2 & 3 as per a normal Yoyo. Men step back to the left as normal, but as you do so – raise your right hand and draw an anti-clockwise circle over the lady’s head – ‘lassooing’ her so she turns one and a half turns in an anti-clockwise direction underneath. When the ladies come round to face, men drop your right elbow, blocking the lady form turning any further – you should now be palms to palms – elbows to elbows. Men push down and away with your right hand – letting go to spin the ladies in a clockwise direction. Catch man’s left to lady’s right. Return. Step back.

Move 2 = First Move Pivot = Beats 1, 2 & 3 as per a normal First Move. Men you’re going to bring your left hand back up near your left shoulder just like you would in a normal First Move, but as you do so take a large step back with your left foot behind your right (or you may find it easier to take 2 or 3 small steps back – left, right, left) so you pivot an extra ¼ or ½ turn to your left than normal, pivoting your lady with you – ladies pivot on their left foot with the man stepping backwards around them. Men raise your left hand to turn your lady out clockwise – now on the opposite way round. Face. Return. Step back.

Move 3 = Pretzel into a Basket = Like a normal Pretzel to begin with – men step back signalling – man’s left to lady’s right, with man’s right hand offered behind his back in a half nelson. Both step in, men raising your left hand over the lady’s head as the ladies take hold of the man’s offered hand behind his back. Pass back to back, men lowering your left hand to waist level as you raise your right hand over the lady’s head. Men look at your partner as you drop your right elbow in between your faces and take your right hand over your head, whilst your lady steps behind you. Men turn to your left to face your lady, lower & keep hold with your right hand to waist level, as you raise your left hand to wrap your lady anti-clockwise into a Basket. Cradle backwards. Cradle forwards. The next move carries on from here…

Move 4 = Basket Cog Turn into Mans Tunnel = From a Basket position as you were at the end of the previous move. Men let go with your left hand and pull with you right so that your lady begins to turn clockwise – as you begin to turn anti-clockwise. Men when you have turned about ½ a turn and your back is to your lady, swap her hand from your right hand to your left hand behind your back as you continue to turn anti-clockwise (Ladies you continue to turn clockwise). When you come around to face each other, men offer your right hand to your lady and ladies take hold – at this point you should be facing each other, the lady’s left arm should be in a half nelson behind her back and you should both have taken hold of each other’s right hand. Men keep hold with both hands as you now bend down at the waist and step forwards to the left underneath the lady’s right arm (entering the ‘tunnel’) as you do this (the man’s arms should be folded across his chest while bent over) men take your hands to your hips. Men keep hold with both hands down by your hips with your arms folded & STAY BENT OVER as you both take a step to your right behind your partner (so you end up with your partner to your left). Men STAY BENT OVER and keep hold with both hands as you step back underneath your lady’s left arm (exiting the ‘tunnel’). Men let go with your right hand, as you stand up and raise your left hand to turn your lady clockwise. Face and catch right to right so you have a crossed handhold. Return. Step back to face, letting to with the left.

When the ladies come round to face keep your left hand raised whilst you catch right to right at waist level. Men raise both hands to return your lady. Step back to face, men letting go with your left hand.

Move 2 = Yoyo Turn Out = Step back right to right. Both step in as you would in a normal Yoyo – men taking your right hand up near your left shoulder, but as you do so change hands so you are now man’s left to lady’s right by the man’s left shoulder. Men take a step behind your lady with your right foot, pivoting round to your right changing sides, raising your left hand in a big arc over the lady’s head – turning her in a clockwise direction. Face. Return. Step back.

Move 3 = Mirrored Catapult Sway = Step back man’s left to lady’s right. Step in as the man pulls down and then raises his left hand out to the left, to make the ladies turn to their right underneath. Men take another step forward to swap sides, lowering your hand to waist level and pivoting a quarter turn to your right so you end up with your left arm in a half nelson behind your back & the lady is facing the man. Men pull & let go with your left hand behind your back to make your lady step forwards, as you place your right hand (with thumb pointing up) onto your lady’s right hip & turn to your right as you start to walk round behind your lady. Ladies keep facing the same way as men continue to walk round behind the lady, whilst keeping their right hand still on the lady’s right hip. Men step in to the left of your lady & collect her in a Sway position. Sway backwards. Forwards. Men raise your left hand to turn your lady out clockwise in front of you. Face, with your left hand raised. Return. When the lady comes round to face, men take your right hand over and behind your head like a Comb. Let go and step back catching with both hands ready for the next move.

Move 4 = Handcuffed Swizzle = Beats 1, 2, 3 & 4 as per a normal Armjive. Men raise your left hand to turn the ladies as normal – but keep hold with your right hand at waist level. As the ladies come round to face (the lady’s left arm is in a half nelson behind her back) – men throw & let go with the lady’s right hand (man’s left hand) down to the right of the man’s extended right arm – men immediately use your left hand to catch the lady’s right hand underneath the man’s extended right arm (you should now have crossed arms). Men step forwards to nearly swap sides, turning to your right to face, as you gently pull with both hands low at waist level to make your lady step forwards turning to her left to nearly face – the man’s arms should now be uncrossed, with the lady’s right arm now in a half nelson behind her back. Men raise your right hand out in front of your lady and then over her head to make her step forwards swapping sides turning clockwise, as the man steps to the right back onto the side he started from. Face with a normal double handhold. Men let go with your right as you return your lady anti-clockwise. Step back.

Beginner Moves

Move 1 = Basket       Move 2 = Step Across       Move 3 = Side to Side

Return. Step back.

Move 2 = Left Handed Comb Spin Out = Step back man’s left to lady’s right. Both step in as men raise their left hand as if they are returning the ladies. When the ladies come round to face, men place your right hand onto the lady’s left shoulder, as you briefly dip your left hand in between your faces, then drop your left elbow to point to the floor – you should now have an arch formed by the man’s left forearm and the lady’s right forearm – men take that arch over your head and lower the lady’s hand behind your neck, as you step in to the right of your lady, whilst you pull and let go with your right hand to make the lady step forwards past the man’s left side. Men turn half a turn to your right as you both continue to swap sides (ladies turning to your left to face) – and as you face men take your left hand across to the right at waist level in preparation for a spin. Men pull back and let go with your left hand at waist level to spin your lady clockwise. Catch man’s left to lady’s right. Return. Step back.

Move 3 = Basket Pivot & Walkaround = Beats 1, 2 & 3 as per a normal Basket. Men cradle your lady forwards as normal, but as you do – raise your left hand (with the lady’s right) up onto her left shoulder. Men push with your left hand on the lady’s shoulder as you pull with your right hand at waist level to make your lady turn 1/2 turn to her right to face you. Keep hold with both hands as men step in to the left of your lady and then walk round behind your lady & step in beside her so you are now both in a position a bit like a First Move with the man’s left hand at shoulder level, the man’s right arm around behind the lady’s back with his right hand still holding the lady’s left hand & the lady’s left arm across her body in front of her. Both walk round in a clockwise direction for 2 beats in this position. Men raise your left hand to unwrap the ladies clockwise. Face. Return. Step back.

Move 4 = First Move Americano Lean = Beats 1, 2 & 3 as per a normal First Move, making sure on beat 3 as you twist out to the side, you both step back with your outside foot in the traditional way – man’s left foot behind right, lady’s right foot behind left – so you are both side by side facing the same way (and for this move there shouldn’t be a large gap between you in this position – you inside legs should almost be touching), men also slip their right arm around behind the lady’s back onto her far (right) hip. Men your left hand should be palm up to offer support to your lady, as whilst keeping your right hand on the lady’s right hip (to keep her facing the same way), draw a small horizontal ‘C’ shape with your left hand (from the lady’s side towards you) as men step to the left with your left foot – leaning the lady sideways onto your right side – the ‘C’ shape hand lead should make your lady take her right leg and sweep it across and over the man’s right leg. Both stand back up as the lady uncrosses her legs. Finishing just like a normal First Move now, men take your left hand back up near your left shoulder. Turn the ladies clockwise. Face. Return. Step back.
